Mobile App Of The Day

Snapseed. iPhone. $4.99. Powerful controls, filters and effects combined with a flowing, swiping interface, Snapseed seems far too advanced for a simple smartphone camera. Yet it works brilliantly on your iPhone photos. Shoot within the app or add a photo from your library and start playing with the various settings until you end up with a completely different work of art. It can handle up to 16 megapixel images, in JPEG, TIF and even RAW formats. Easily browse and adjust your photos with a single tap using Auto Correct or you can tweak your photo to perfection with Tune Image. Selective Adjust enhances specific objects or areas in your photos. Of course, there are the usual controls for white balance, saturation, brightness, contrast, and an ambience filter to create depth. Then go crazy with the various filters like Drama, Vintage, Grunge, and Center Focus - offering a tilt-shift or vignetting option. There are fun borders for finishing touches and of course you can send or share your creations on Facebook and Flickr. I know photographers that import their higher res photos back into their iPhone just to access this great app for post processing. Check it out - even at $4.99, it is money well spent.
